When I was 10, my father left and started a new family, leaving me to navigate a difficult path. In the years that followed, I turned to drugs and alcohol, and by 18, I had multiple charges on my record, was living in my car, and selling drugs. In August of that year, I was arrested for controlled substance distribution. After a few days in custody, I made the life-changing decision to get clean. It was the hardest thing I had ever done, especially without the support of my friends, but I committed to change. I enrolled in a highly-rated rehab facility and began showing up every day.

During my recovery, I found strength in my passion for clothing and sewing, and I wanted to inspire others who were facing similar struggles. In 2022, I launched Black Hearts Brand, which I later rebranded as Mavari Kardia, meaning "Black Heart" in Greek. My goal is to provide proof that anything is possible and remind others that their struggles are not permanent. Every day, I strive to be better than I was the day before, and I hope my story and brand give others the confidence to do the same. Thank you for supporting Mavari Kardia.
